Pronatura Noroeste AC

Thanks to the funding from the World Heritage Alliance of the United Nations Foundation, and Rufford Small Grants Foundation; Pronatura Noroeste AC (PNO) through its Regional Tourism for Conservation Program coordinated by Biol. Tania Paola Romero Brito, developed a project destined to promote community development in the Sierra de San Francisco. The purpose is to generate economic incomes for the conservation of this site through low impact tourism.

Through this project, PNO generated a diagnosis of the Sierra´s actual conditions, and future opportunities to execute low impact tourism activities, which will serve as a baseline for other short and long term community development projects. Also, this website was created to support the site's promotion, and community work was done to improve the community's skills to offer touristic services.
